76ers Coverage Increases

About two weeks ago, the 76ers were so boring and bad the media barley mentioned the team, now the team is seriously discussing bringing back Allen Iverson and people questioning the 76ers whether or not they are doing this to improve the team, or to increase the media coverage.

I believe the team is doing this to increase media coverage. It is amazing how big of an impact the media has on sports teams, they are actually going to spend 3 million dollars just to get attention of the Philadelphia Media.

Comcast just merged with Universal and the bigger story on the front page of the News Paper was Allen Iverson…Go Figure.

Tiger Woods

I am sick of the media harping on Tiger Woods. People cheat deal with it. Thousands of fights between spouses occur in the United States each day who cares that Tiger Woods had a disagreement. Move on. I do not care how many different women he was with it is irrelevant to my life, I don’t understand why so many people care about this subject.

I agree with Tiger Woods himself, it is not our buisenss what his family problems are, some may say it is because he if a public figure who endoreses many products, but the man endorses gatorade does anyone really care if a “Gatorade drinker” cheats? Is that going to make you stop drinking Gatorade? Please, I am so glad that his sponsers stayed with him.

TV Bloopers

utterli-image
It is amazing that in today’s media how quick a TV  blooper can spread around the Internet, all it took to take this photo was DVR and a camera phone. This is photo became the talk of blogs in the pro football world. It was the “butt” of many jokes. This video was posted on youtube, and other video streaming sites. A blooper story can spread throught the world via the internet in a matter of minutes. If this photo would have been spotted 20 years ago, it would maybe be mentioned but never seen again. Because of the way bloopers can spread in today’s media it makes it that much more vital that a producer pays attention during a broadcast.

Media Coverage of Eagles

utterli-imageHere I am covering the Philadelphia Eagles, I am inside the team’s practice bubble. What amazes me about covering an NFL team is the rules the come with covering them. For example, at practice a reporter can only film for ten minutes, practice is only open to the media for the entire length to the media on Thursday’s, practice  footage can only be used on the internet 24 hours after it was filmed after that it must be taken down by law. The locker room is only open for 45 minutes before practice then it is closed.
The problem with the media’s coverage with the Eagles is it seems every news outlet has the same story, no one ever has different take on a story, its all the same.

Not Enough Spectrum Coverage

utterli-image
I feel that the media is not focusing enough on the closing of the Spectrum, outside of the historic sites from the 1700′s the Spectrum is one of the most iconic buildings in Philadelphia. The Spectrum’s impact on the world of music, and sports is legandary.  Bruce Springstein, Billy Joel, Elton John, are just some of the names in music, in sports Dr. J (Julius Erving) The Philadelphia Flyers known as the broad street bullies of the 1970′s, Eric Lindros, the names go on and on yet the media is doing very little to remember the Iconic building.
It is situations like this where I begin to wonder if all the media does is focus on the negatives, there are many newsworthy stories to come out of the closing of the Spectrum and they are not being reported on, there are many workers who have worked there since the building first opened back in 1967, where is the reporting of that story on the news?

camera phones and pics

utterli-image
im blogging this week about cameraphone i love taking pictures in the moment and being able to look back at them when i am bored…right now its 40 degrees out and i want to think of drinking by the bay down the shore.all i have to do to invision it is loook through my phone and look at a picture i took in the summer time of a corona bottle at the beach..its cold and and i do not like it.
One advantage that we have in today’s world through the media, we can instantly picture and envision places we want to go, places we have been or places we will never see but wish we could. In 1960 it was not possible for a person to see the true colors of the coral reefs and the pretty blue ocean surrounding it, today all a person needs is an HDTV and the discovery channel.
